Through the lens of the “half-boy” initiation story, we’ll delve into the challenges young people face in today’s world and the transformative potential of community and mentorship.

Nicky Wilks, a fourth-generation Vashon native, parent and youth development guide, will share his personal journey and insights, highlighting the need for an open mind and broadened perspectives if we are to illuminate navigable paths to wholeness for ourselves and our youth.

We are honored to welcome Nicky Wilks, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Journeymen. Inspired by nature, Journeymen is a diverse community of young adults, elders, volunteers, guides, youth and families wholly focused on bringing out the best in our boys. Their mission is to encourage compassionate, inspired and resilient young men through nature-based rites of passage, mentorship, and community engagement.
